University of Findlay Guidelines for AI Use
The University of Findlay supports the responsible and ethical use of emerging technologies, such as generative Artificial Intelligence (AI), by the campus community. UF acknowledges that emerging technologies are currently being used across all industries and will continue to be used. Students will soon be expected to use AI tools in their experiential learning (e.g. internships, co-ops, service projects) and employment, if not already. Therefore, it is our duty as an educational community to explore these technologies alongside our students so all are able to apply such tools in knowledgeable, intentional, and judicious ways that contribute to our collective pursuit of meaningful lives and productive careers.
This document describes functional and ethical elements regarding AI and education and offers a dynamic and flexible set of guidelines for responsible incorporation (or exclusion) of AI in UF courses. Instructors should follow these guidelines when deciding individual course/program policies relevant to their respective disciplines and course/program outcomes. We recognize the difficulty of keeping up with emerging technologies and shifting paradigms, and the University of Findlay is committed to supporting faculty through these changes.
