What is a research appointment?
A research consultation between a student and a librarian. And guess what? It's free!
You are always welcome to come to the library with spur-of-the-moment reference questions. However, librarians are only available from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday. If we are not available or you need extensive help with your research, we recommend you schedule a one-on-one appointment. It is similar to a consultation with a Writing Center tutor, but instead of looking at writing, we look at your research needs.
Why is a research appointment beneficial?
It offers individualized support. We talk specifically about your topic and project, and make sure you feel more comfortable with the research process overall.
What does a research appointment cover?
These appointments are flexible and will be based on your research needs. We could focus on a number of things: finding source material, developing or narrowing topics, or working to evaluate and select the best sources.
How long are research appointments?
Length can vary. Consultations will last up to an hour, but you are welcome to schedule additional consultations with us.
