Group & Individual Study Rooms

• Rooms are available for 3 hours on a first come, first served basis. 
• Group rooms are equipped with white boards and monitors. Two with smart boards. 
• Stop at Borrow & Pickup desk to check out a key.
• University ID required. Study room policy.

Learning Commons (First Floor)

The Learning Commons is an active, collaborative learning space and an ideal location for open group discussions. 

It features several PC and MAC computers for your use and our leisure reading and movie collections.

Quiet Zone (Second Floor)

The second floor is designated a quiet zone, with a variety of large tables and study carrels.

​​​Computers and Technology

 The library has the following technologies available to UF students, faculty, and staff for use in the library.

• Laptops (macs & windows) for 2-hour loan. In library use only.
• Computer workstations.
• Print release stations. You can also scan documents & send to your email.
• One-Button Studios for recording videos for class projects or lectures.
• Sound booth for making audio recordings.

Knowledge Bar (ITS Help Desk, First Floor)

The Knowledge Bar offers walk-in technology assistance to students, faculty and staff and is open regular building hours.

Video Game Arcade (Basement)

The video game area in the basement of Shafer Library provides the following arcade machines, free of charge to UF students, faculty, and staff:

• Pac-Man and Ms. Pac-Man
• Golden Tee Golf/Bowling
• Street Fighter II
• Killer Instinct
• NBA Jam
• Mortal Kombat

Board Game Area (Basement)

The library has a variety of board games for student, faculty, and staff use:

• Giant Uno
• Monopoly
• Scrabble
• Pandemic
• Puzzles
• Traditional card games (Poker, Solitaire, etc.)

New games are added periodically, so stop by to see what's new! Board games are not required to be checked out, but may not leave the library.
