This November, the University of Findlay celebrates two significant milestones: the 100th anniversary of the Griffith Memorial Arch, and the 50th anniversary of WLFC 88.3, the campus radio station.
100 Years of the Griffith Memorial Arch
While University Archives records cannot confirm the date of the first official Arch Ceremony, the Griffith Memorial Arch was officially erected and dedicated on November 28, 1923. After 100 years, the landmark has become an integral part of campus tradition. Check out the video and photos below to learn more about the Memorial Arch's history.
50 Years of WLFC 88.3
On November 1, 1973, the first broadcast of the campus radio station aired to the campus community and surrounding areas. Since the first broadcast, students have had the opportunity to showcase their interests through a unique medium. Check out the photos below for some unique artifacts on the radio station's history!
The links below contain photographs of the campus tradition of walking through the Arch upon graduation, as well as primary resource materials from the Arch's construction and dedication.
Superstition states that if a University of Findlay student walks under the Arch before commencement, then they won't graduate. In this edition of The Pulse, a team of football players dealt with "The Curse of the Fallen Arches" and were not able to graduate on time. Luckily, the article was published as an April Fool's joke!

1923 Class Memorial Arch

The class of 1923 decided to construct their own arch at the college library. 1923 is certainly the "year of the arches!"
