Using the New OneSearch: How to Search

The new UF OneSearch

Searching Basics

OneSearch allows you to search through all of our partner institutions from OhioLINK. You can, though, limit your searching to only resources provided by UF Libraries.

To search UF library resources only, make sure that UF Library Resources is selected in the search bar's drop down menu.

OneSearch defaults to searching UF Library Resources when you first use the search tool, so if you want to search the wider array of resources available from OhioLINK please make sure to change the drop down menu!

Searches in the new OneSearch function just like in the old version. Your search can be a natural language search, or it can include specific resource information such as an author name, title, call number, , etc. You can also use Boolean operators or enter an Advanced Search to add more search criteria.

From the Simple Search, you can also select which material type you are looking for. The row beneath the search box lets you select books, articles, journals, and video/film. These will automatically restrict your search results to the selected resource type.

Search Results

After performing a Simple or Advanced search, search results will then appear below the search bar and will provide you with options to refine your results. As in other databases and the old OneSearch, you can limit and sort your results by availability type, resource type, publication date, etc. You can also quickly cite, email, or favorite a resource from the options on the right side of the resource's title.
