The Pre-Dormitory Era at Findlay College (1909-1955)

..

1909-1954. Henderson Home - Findlay's first ladies' dorm (later used for ministerial students). It stood at the northeast corner of Cory and College (220 College) and was the former home of Charles Manchester. Henderson also housed the first all-college dining hall, seating up to 40 students.

1923-1954. Bare Hall - the first men's dorm. Originally located at 118 College, moved to 1125 N. Cory in 1923. Moved again (to 1214 N. Cory) in 1954.

1939-1960s. Fernbaugh Manor - located at 1212 N. Main St., it was originally just called "the Girls' Dormitory", but was renamed in 1942. Later used for men.

1939-1954. Weiger House - 214 College, men

1946-1958. Hickernell Hall - 201 Frazer, women

1953-1960s. Addams Hall - 1120 N. Main, women (later used for men).

And as a temporary expedient after World War II...

1947-1954. Trailer Town - twenty federally-supplied units for married student housing. They were located north and east of (old) Bare Hall.

Current Residences (1955 to the present)

1955. Myers Hall opened as the first true dormitory on the Findlay campus, housing 122 men (and 1 housemother).

1959. Lovett Hall became the first women's dorm, with space for 100 women and their housemother. A 26-room wing was added in 1966.

1963. Another men's dorm was constructed - and named for Dean-Emeritus Carroll A. Morey in 1964.

1966. A third dorm for men - Fox Residence Hall - was dedicated on October 8, during Homecoming.

1969. The women acquired a second dorm when Deming Residence Hall opened. It included a new cafeteria, Henderson Dining Hall.

1970. The 1960s "building boom" at Findlay College came to a close with the dedication of Bare Hall.
